Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977)
is an New Zealand actress. She is well-known for her funny, soft-spoken and
strong character. She is mostly in films that are independent. She has been
awarded an New Zealand Film Award as in addition to an Hollywood Film Award as
well as an Sundance Special Jury Award. Lynskey made her film debut as a
teenage murderess in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to
the United States in 1994, Lynskey began a successful career acting in supporting
roles in a range of large-budget and smaller-scale movies, such as Ever After
(1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly
(2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered Glass (2003) and Flags
of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey has received praise from critics and an award
nomination for the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer for her lead role as
a depressed divorcee The Goodbye I Must Be Going (2012) that proved to be a
turning scene for her career. Her subsequent lead roles included Happy
Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016),
Rainbow Time, Little Boxes, I'm Not Home in This World Anymore (both 2017),
Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018) as well as Lady of the
Manor (both 2018) established her status as an important figure in the American
independent film community. Outside of film, Lynskey achieved fame with her
role as Rose on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). She was a part
of Togetherness from 2015 until the year 2016. The show received nominations
for the 2015 Critics’ Choice Television Award for the Best Supporting
