Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California, the younger daughter of media mogul, producer and musician Quincy
Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Kidada Jones is her elder sister. She also has
five half-siblings derived from her father's other relationships. Her father is
African-American and her mother is Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant of refugees
from Russia and Latvia). Rashida was raised Reform Judaism. She grew up in Bel
Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones said that Jones' parents were mixed race
and were unacceptable to her during the 1970s. Jones made her debut as a
professional actor in The Last Don in 1997 the mini-series based on Mario Puzo.
Rashida was also a graduate of Harvard University in 1997. She attended a class
at the Buckley School, Sherman Oaks, California. Voted the Most Likely

involved with Josh Hartnett, Charlie Hunnam and John Krasinski. She was a
singer in a Tupac Shakur tribute song, that was written by Kidada Jones who is
her sister. Kidada and her brother Quincy Jones III composed the song. Quincy
Jones III, their father, was also featured in the intro, singing Shakur's
lyrics "Starry Night". The poem was the inspiration behind the title
of the song. Rashida's father is African-American, has a less significant
amount of English, Scottish and Welsh ancestral ancestry (some relatives of
Rashida's African relatives are from the Tikar people in Cameroon). Rashida is
Ashkenazi Jewish, of Russian Jewish and Latvian Jewish descent. Her paternal
grandparents, both from South Carolina, and Mississippi are her paternal
grandparents. Her maternal grandfather was born to New Yorkers, and her
maternal grandmother was from Eastern European Jewish heritage. Since the end
of 2009, she was playing three different characters using the name
"Karen" on classic cult TV comedies (Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella
(2005) and The Office (2005)).
